We have had a few mornings recently that have really felt like fall-- so refreshing and make me want to wear colorful cardigans :) As with most weather changes, it always targets a couple people in the family with sickness. This year didn't fail.
This sweet little 48 week old face below had a sweet smile for me but woke up wheezing and sounding croupy. (all you moms know that sound in the middle of the night that makes your heart drop-there is not mistaking it was a croup cough and it means a few days of being subjected to your house).
Later in the day, the wheezing, gasping and coughing got worse and he started swatting at his chest that was retracting pretty good. So off we went to see the doctor. After a breathing treatment and some steroids, we came home to rest to only go back to the doctor the next morning who sent us to the ER. Little man was so pitiful and needed some stronger medicines.
For the next few days, he still sounded horrible but would have moments of play and smiles for me and then would want to be cuddled and go to sleep. This is one of those moments that was just precious, the boys were chasing each other around giggling and laughing.
And then they did their baby brother yoga poses.
This has been Finn's new thing, it is so funny when he looks at you or tries to pick up a toy while he is in this position. I think he is trying to stand up somehow.
49 Weeks. Thankful we are here and can get out and about after this past week. . .only for mom to lose her voice and start the sniffles. Oh lovely. Sweetest moment this week? Now when you ask Finn for a kiss he leans over with those sweet lips to give you one!
It was time to go to the 7th Annual Jackson Co. Fair. Our sweet friend Jackson was turning 7 and there is always a big celebration to honor his special day. How do you start out such an occasion? With Spiderman face paint of course!
This brought back bittersweet memories for me. Last year at this party, Lucas was 2 and I was very very pregnant and daddy was on a trip. I wasn't allowed to help Lucas on rides so he had to do things by himself and at 2, he rolled up his burlap sack and carried it all the way up those stairs over and over so he could slide. It would take him forever and bless those kids who waited patiently behind him as he made his way up. One of those kids told their parents later that they heard Lucas saying, "I can do it, I can do it" all the way up. Break my heart.
This year, he was a pro. He went on this no less than 30 times in a row.
And this year we added in keeping our hands up in the air the entire time! Brave.
They just don't get much cuter than this! Finn didn't do the rides, but he did enjoy eating some food and being entertained by the lights and music.
If you thought the slide was brave, you just wait. We left the party to drive to a state park for Otter Creek's retreat. Some people camped and some stayed in the lodge (which is still camping to me) but about 350 people came out for a weekend of fellowship, fun, food, and worship. One of the activities on Saturday was a parking lot full of bounce houses. This slide caught Lucas' attention. When he got to the top, he didn't do like all the other kids and sit down and slide, oh no--Lucas ran and did a flying leap off the top!
He wouldn't actually come in contact with any of the slide until 3/4 the way down. How we haven't had a trip to the ER with him yet I have no clue.
Finn enjoyed the bounce house, even when big kids got in and tossed him around he just laughed and clapped.
The boys sporting their OC retreat shirts. They are both wearing the same size shirt.
What better way to end the day than with a wagon ride with this sweet boy?

The flying Lucas pictures are amazing! And the one of them together at the retreat is so sweet. Glad they like their new furry buddies and the thank you pictures were the best. You are so good.
