Just a warning, you might want a drink and a snack before you get al cozy to read this blog. I uploaded a lot of photos for this entry, I couldn't choose between all the cuteness and I am sure you are sitting at home beating the heat so you have time to soak in the yumminess as well :)
37 Weeks. . .gasp. . .52 won't take very long to get here, I think my mommy heart just audibly gasped. This really is my favorite stage so far, he is crawling everywhere, smiling and laughing, saying "dada", pulling up, standing, balancing, and popping in a new tooth in the top! He is eating mostly all table food now and his favorites (although he declines no food so far) are cantaloupe and watermelon.
My favorite is when the two brothers are "wrestling" and just when I am about to correct Lucas for being too rough, Finn will just look at Lucas and belly laugh. Finn is officially moved up to a big boy car seat and he loves it so far!
Nashville has had record heat the past week. As in, the hottest day in Nashville history just occurred and pretty much every day following has broken a record. So, on this 107 degree day, we met up with friends and did a little shopping. We stumbled upon this lovely bench which just screamed photo op:
My favorite funny Lucas story of the week occurred when I put a shirt on him Saturday morning and I said, "Lucas, you and Finn get to where matching whale shirts today". His response? "But momma, I don't want to take a picture!" bahahaha. oops. Maybe I take too many pictures? Nah, they will thank me one day. Or I will thank myself when they are all grown up. Not like they are ever going to grow up and leave me. Not ever.
Lulu and Leilei. I think I will put this in a double frame next to their 2027 Prom photo;)
I just love this picture, of course I couldn't get any of them to look at me, but I love how they are all looking somewhere else with their own sweet expressions.
It's time for some fireworks and fun at Lipscomb! This is always one of my favorite traditions. Summer Celebration at LU always occurs this week and my dad is usually a speaker which means we get some family fun time with them too, but sadly, because of the Colorado fires, my dad had to stay back and help, but Sugar still came!
Here is my favorite family on the planet:
I know. No words. My southern sparkler at his finest.
Ready for the fireworks momma!
Found these three cuties on the Bell Tower steps :)
I have glow sticks everyone! I was so proud of him too, he shared with so many kids who wanted in on the glowing action with a sweet spirit.
At this point, we had had sno cones, ice cream, bottled water, etc. all in attempts to cool down. Well, sweat was still covering us all but we still had smiles! That is until the fireworks started. Lucas loved them last year, but this year was not a fan of the noise or bright lights so he hid in our shoulders. I enjoyed the cuddle while watching the show!
Promise we didn't call each other and plan their outfits but great minds and great friends think alike, right? Check out their hair, even the color is identical!
Happy 4th of July! Lucas was excited to get ready for our 3rd annual Burkitt Place parade. We always talk about how we feel like we live in Mayberry with this sweet neighborhood of ours. Guess it is only fitting the week that Andy Griffith died that we had our sweet little parade.
We had our very own police escort which Lucas thought was super cool, all the neighbors were out on their porches or on the corner waving to us as we passed.
Professional waver:
At the end of our parade, we all got popsicles by the pool. Lucas found out the best way to not only drink his popsicle but cool off his head at the same time. He might be a genius.
Stay cool my friends!
