Friday afternoon, a long time friend got a hold of me to let me know some shocking news that I am still processing: my dear friend Marcus Ewing was riding his bicycle to work in New York City when he was "doored" by a man exiting his car which pushed Marcus directly into traffic where a truck struck him and killed him.

There is no way to describe a person like Marcus in words. He was a quiet, strong, and passionate leader, devoted servant to the poor, ignored, and homeless and a loyal friend to so many.

I am mourning the loss of my friend, these things aren't supposed to happen. My heart is shattered for my sweet friend Adrienne, who wasn't supposed to lose her husband after only being married for 3 years, Amy and Greg who weren't supposed to bury a son, and Chris, who wasn't supposed to lose his brother at the age of 27.

Life is precious, and Marcus led his to the full. He leaves a legacy of love and dedication to others behind that will keep his memory alive. Please pray for the Ewing family, especially my dear friend Adrienne as she navigates through this nightmare.

You will be missed Marcus, but we will be seeing you again and I look forward to that day.
