This past Monday night was Lagniappe in downtown Rochester. Lagniappe (lon-yop) is Creole for "a little something extra". This means that as you go around from shop to shop, each place will give you "lagniappe", that might be 20% whatever you buy, a piece of cake, little Santa Claus puppets, free Knapp's donuts, etc. The picture on-top was from the downtown Rochester's website.
This night also is the first night of the Big Bright Light Show.....all of the buildings are covered in lights....over 1 million of them! Josh and I ate dinner at the Subway downtown and then counted down with Santa for the lights to come on. It was quite excited, I felt like I was a little kid!
Monday we had 2 inches of snow, so it definitely made everything feel like Christmas! There were carolers, TV crews, Mr. and Mrs. Claus, and people playing instruments all up and down the street...but my favorite part was the horse drawn sleigh ride that we went on! My brother and Megan met up with us and the four of us took a ride together, and then warmed up with hot chocolate and donuts at Knapps.
It was so fun, definitely go downtown and enjoy the lights over the next month!
